Much info on this page from 'History of Parker County' book

Forebears immigrated from the Lower Palatinate on the Rhine, Germany to Pennsylvania in the early 1700's, from Pennsylvania to Virginia, and in the 1750's migrated to North Carolina.  Records of deed transactions show the migration of this family.

Speculation:  I'm wondering if Woodford Bumgarner born in 1819 in NC is also a son of Absalom, and brother to John.  Cannot find info on Woodford's parents.  Woodford is the Bumgarner line that James Garner, actor, apparently descends from.

John T. Bumgarner

See 'Texas Connections' info about John's log cabin and George W. McCleskey being killed by Comanche Indians there. (GW McCleskey headstone) Also, see info about McCleskey in this letter.

In 1852, John T. sold his 160 acres in Georgia to brother Joab, and moved to Hunt County, TX.  Was joined by brothers Aaron and Philip and later his parents.

Between 1857 and 1860, John and family moved to Parker Co., TX , while his parents and sis Barbara and husband moved to neighboring Erath Co.

Born 1813, Lincoln Co., NC

Died about 1888, no stones to mark their graves, but family tradition says that both John and Mary are buried at Ballew Springs Cemetery.

Married Mary ? from South Carolina in Georgia

Mary died in Parker Co. in about 1872

John later married Elizabeth Hopewell Keene Miller in 1876.  (she was mother of Mary Miller who married his son, John Hubbard).  After John T. died, grandson George Abb's letter says that "my grandmother Miller went crazy and died in an insane asylum".

Below is info contributed by Sandra Fuller Fisher about Elizabeth Miller.  Sandra is requesting any information on George Abb Bumgarner, son of John Hubbard and Mary Bumgarner.
